Marjorie R. Johnson, 89, of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in LeClaire.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 9, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for her great-grandson’s benefit.

Marjorie was born March 25, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Henry & Rose (Poppe) Schmidt. She grew up on a farm and participated in 4-H in her earlier years.

She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Johnson on January 17, 1948 in Davenport. Together, she and Vern were life-long farmers in LeClaire. They also enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles together. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1984.

Marjorie enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, playing the piano and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her memberships included the Companions M.I. Hummel Club; Quad-Cities Chapter, the Brownlie Sodhouse Questers, Chapter #1229 and the Quad-City Metro Mini Makers.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie & Stanley Musal of LeClaire; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Karen Johnson of Eldridge; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Sharon Schmidt of Davenport; and her sister-in-law, Selma Hultgren of Billings, Montana.

In addition to her husband, Vern, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gary Johnson; and one great-grandchild.
