Mark L. Simmons, 49, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 06, 2013 at his home.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf.  He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mark was born in Davenport on February 9, 1964 and was united in marriage to Kathy J. Warren on May 10, 1986 in Davenport.

He was employed by the City of Davenport as a heavy equipment operator for the past 26 years.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter.  He was an accomplished cook and in earlier years, was a commercial fisherman known for his smoked fish.  Mark loved music, the company of his many friends and above all, his beloved family.  He always put his family first and was devoted to “taking care of them” in so many ways.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Kathy; his son, Mark L. Simmons Jr.; his sister, Pamela R. (Michael) Day of Davenport; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Warren of DeWitt, Iowa, Gary (Tammy) Warren of Blue Grass, Iowa and Mike Warren of Davenport; his father-in-law, Herbert Warren of Davenport; his niece, Ashley Simmons; his nephews, Allen Simmons and Eric Winter; many cousins and special friends including his best friend, Tim Reeder.  He will be sadly missed, but his memory will remain alive forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon; his step-father, Richard Misner; his infant sister, Tanya Serres; his brother-in-law, Roger Warren; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Warren.
