Martha Swan

Martha A. Swan, 62, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus in Davenport.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Born on October 23, 1952 in Davenport Martha was the daughter, of Louis and Vivian (Manthorne) Swan. She married William West. They later divorced.
Martha taught Special Education at Camanche School District for 14 years. She was also a professor at Scott Community College. Martha began her teaching career as an interpreter for the deaf. She enjoyed painting, drawing and writing.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Jessie West and Jamie (Julia) Morrison, both of Davenport; grandchildren, Addie, Lana and Anderson “Bub” Rankin; her father, Louis Swan of Apex, North Carolina; sisters, Jenny Knoche of Calamus, Iowa and Nancy Taylor of Columbia, Missouri; brothers, David Swan of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dan Swan of Apex, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
