Martha Jane Ford, 79, of Davenport, died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Martha Jane was born June 23, 1925 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Charles & Lona (Carpenter) Maiden. She was united in marriage to Robert Ford on April 21, 1948 in Monroe City, Missouri.
Martha Jane primarily devoted her life to her home, and she had previously worked at the former Kenmore Foods in Rock Island for several years.
She was an avid bowler for many years and was also fond of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Linda Sharar and her husband, Don, of Blue Grass, Kari Allen and her husband, Rick, of Davenport, and Kathy Mack of Davenport; her sons, Robert “Mike” Ford and his wife, Carol, of Davenport and Joseph “Pat” Ford and his wife, Winnie, of Colona, Illinois; her grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Lindsay, Amy, Adam, Abby, Denisha, Stacey, Shelley, Christina, and Joey; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, Paige, Jacob, Peyton, Terrence, Trevon, Sydney, and Kailey; her cousin and lifelong friend, Dora Herman of Moline, Illinois; and many other cousins whom had grown up with her.
Martha Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, by whom she was raised, Floyd & Alice Carpenter; and a daughter, Pamela.
