Marvin L. Hayes, 64, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Marvin was born September 5, 1948 in Leon, Iowa, the son of Ivan Lee & Katheryn Louise (Martin) Hayes. He was owner and operator of Hayes Landscaping in Davenport.
Marvin was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed playing cards, billiards and NASCAR. He had raced cars in earlier years. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends at Monkey’s Riverdale Pub.
Those left to honor his memory include his long-time companion, Betty Verville of Bettendorf; his daughter, Debbie Meierotto of Des Moines, Iowa; his sons, Michael (Teresa) Hayes, Keith (Jennifer) Hayes, Brett Hayes and Joshua Hayes, all of Davenport; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild expected soon; and Betty’s immediate family, Val, Dick, Craig & Nakieta.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Matthew & Steve; and an infant brother at birth.
