Marvin C. Hintze, 87, formerly of Bettendorf, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at Senior Star at Elmore Place in Davenport.
Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Davenport with military honors conducted by the Bettendorf Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Marvin was born October 1, 1929 in Bettendorf, the son of William & Ottillie (Lemcke) Hintze. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On September 9, 1950, he was united to marriage to Doris H. Klauer at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Marvin was retired from Case IH. He was also a volunteer firefighter with the Bettendorf Fire Department for 22 years. He also owned and operated Marv’s Tap on State Street in downtown Bettendorf for many years.
An avid fisherman and hunter, he had had cabins on the Wapsi River and enjoyed hunting in Colorado. Marvin was proud to have been on an Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joe & Teresa Hintze of Long Grove, Iowa, Steve & Sue Hintze of Lochbuie, Colorado, Dennis & Barb Hintze of Long Grove and Mike & Tracy Hintze of Draper, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lawrence Hintze of Davenport.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jackie Richardson and Shirley Van Sant; his brothers, Richard and Bill; and one great-grandson, Cael Burmeister.
