Mary Busch

Mary Ann Busch, 91, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Monday January 13, 2014, at The Good Samaritan Society in Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday January 16, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family or the Blue Grass Volunteer Fire Department.

Mary was born August 13, 1922, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Hrdina) Benes.  On August 28, 1954 she united in marriage to John H. Busch, at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on April 15, 1980.  Mary worked as a seamstress at the Davonshire Company of Davenport, with 24 years of service before her retirement.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Mary was also known for her Christmas Cookie Exchange.

She will be remembered by her son Philip (Melodie) Busch of Blue Grass; her step-son Darrold (Arlene) Busch of Donahue; her grandson Colton “C.J.”; her step-grandchildren, Terry, Mike, Rich, and Cory; several great grandchildren; her brothers, John Benes and Joe Benes; her sisters-in-law Gertrude Kruse of Tipton, Margaret Johnson of Tipton, and Dorothy Benes of Davenport; her brother-in-law Don Heizer; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; her daughter Cora Mae Busch; her brother Jim Benes; and her sister-in-law Louise Heizer.
