Mary E. Earp, 88, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where she was a member. The family will greet friends from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary was born in Quincy, Illinois on August 9, 1935, the daughter of Ben and Laura (Thornton) Bodecker. She was united in marriage to Eugene E. Earp in Sutter, Illinois on December 18, 1955.
She was a graduate of Hamilton (Illinois) High School and a1956 graduate of the former Galesburg School of Nursing. Mary was employed as a registered nurse at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport for 16 years and later, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, retiring in 1994.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved reading and dancing.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gene, her daughter, Penny (Mark) Stanley of Roanoke, Virginia, her son, Timothy (Molly House) Earp of Des Moines, Iowa, her grandchildren, Nathan (Eleny) Earp and Erika Earp, her great-grandchildren, Colin and Sarah, her step-great-grandchildren, Patrick House and Katherine (John) Lato, and her step-great-great-granddaughter, Maeve.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Bodecker and Lewis Bodecker and her parents.
