Mary E. Frields, 92, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mary was born March 11, 1918 in Eldorado, the daughter of George & Mary Ellen (Shumate) Hanselman. She was united in marriage to Issac A. Frields on December 31, 1931 in Eldorado. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1979.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her love of telling stories. She encouraged everyone she knew to have fun and enjoy themselves. Mary also enjoyed country music and dancing.
Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses, George & Kyung Frields of Arizona, Virginia & Ivan Mills of Davenport, Mary Ann & Andre St. Pierre of LeClaire, Iowa, Wilma & Chuck Carlson of Davenport, Randall & Diane Frields of Cambridge, Illinois, Neva & Max Casad of DeWitt, Iowa and Roger & Mona Frields of Eldorado; 29 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, George Hanselman of Ottawa, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Issac, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, James; her sisters, Lou Kuecker, Rose Roberts and Pruella Plunkett; and her brothers, Earl & Guy Plunkett and Simon & Floyd Hanselman.
The family would like to express special thanks to Genesis VNA Hospice, Dr. Sy, Dr Edwards, Dr. Miller and the nurses and staff of their offices for all of their care and concern during this time.
