Mary Agatha Garcia, 95, a resident of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with visitation to follow from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Born on October 19, 1920 in Moline, Mary was the daughter of Micaela Compean-Vasquez. On October 24, 1946, she married Albert Garcia. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1978.
Mary worked in admitting at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport for over ten years. She enjoyed crocheting, going for walks, spending time in her flower gardens and her cats. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Mary Rita Garcia of Davenport and Elizabeth (Curt) Thurston of Roswell, New Mexico; sons, Alan (Gina) Garcia of Muscatine, Anthony Garcia of Bettendorf and John Garcia of Davenport; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James and sister, Clotilda.
