Mary Halpin, 86, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Long Island, New York died on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at her home.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation or to Gilda’s Club.
She was born March 19, 1922 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the daughter of Harry & Mary (Fedun) Kachuba and was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School. On November 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph P. Halpin in Metuchen, New Jersey.
Mary was a homemaker and in earlier years, had been employed with the Federal Government in New Jersey.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Linda (Bill) Oertel of Durant, Iowa; her sons, Daniel Halpin of Dubuque, Iowa and Joseph (Dora) Halpin of West Babylon, New York; her grandchildren, Sandra Bartosch of Davenport and Kristen (Erik) Lutjen of Blacksburg, Virginia; her great-grandchildren, Josh Morgan of Ottumwa, Iowa, Devon Mohr of Davenport and Angela Bartosch of Davenport; and her brother, Paul (Jessie) Kaciuba of Toms River, New Jersey.
Her sisters, Ann Orosz, Sonia Marone and Kathryn Nagy; and her brothers, John Kachuba and Peter Kachuba, preceded Mary in death.
