Mary Elizabeth Hofmann-Jacobs, 60, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, in Davenport.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Born on March 17, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky, Marybeth was the daughter of Robert M. and Marian A. (McMann) Hofmann. On November 8, 2017 in Davenport, she married Mark Jacobs.
Marybeth worked as the Center Director of KinderCare in Bettendorf for 33 years. She had a passion for early childhood education and looked forward to spending time with the children, staff, and parents each day. Marybeth served as a Quality Team Leader for the last 15 years sharing her knowledge and expertise with other centers. She served on the Quad City AEYC Board of Directors for over 10 years bringing early childhood activities to the community. She enjoyed boating, gardening, attending the farmers market, shopping, fishing, and her dogs. Marybeth had a deep admiration for animals. She was always so welcoming to cats and dogs and was partial to German Shorthair Pointers. Her dog, Remington (Remy) was her pride and joy. Like her mother, autumn was her favorite time of the year. Although she had no children of her own, her life’s work was caring for her children at KinderCare.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Mark Jacobs; brothers, Robert J. Hofmann of Bettendorf and John W. (Teresa) Hofmann of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; niece, Lindsey Hofmann; and nephews, Colin and Connor Hofmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
