Mary Kane

Mary Jane Kane, 86, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Manor Care – Utica Ridge, Davenport.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Mary Jane was born on March 13, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of James and Ethel (Heck) Boyjisky.  On July 28, 1956, she married Marvin L. Kane Sr. in Cambridge, Illinois.  Mary Jane worked as a waitress at Shannon’s Restaurant in Davenport.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  She enjoyed going to the gambling boats, playing Bingo, and scratch-off tickets.  Mary Jane was a very talented yodeler, and also loved to dance and sing country music.  Above all, family was most important in her life and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Melodie (Michael) Boyjisky of Davenport, Katherine Kane of Davenport, Marvin Kane Jr. of Acworth, Georgia, David Kane of Acworth, Laurie (Joe) Carpio of Bettendorf; siblings, Carol Baylock of Mesa, Arizona, Michael (Melodie) Boyjisky of Davenport; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two sons, Melvin and Jimmie; daughter, Deborah; and siblings, Margaret, Esther, Remor, Jimmy, George, David, and Jimmy.
