Mary Lou Major, 78, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mary was born on May 19, 1934 in Chillicothe, IA, the daughter of Edward and Clara Shilling Kelsey. On October 25, 1958 in Chillicothe, she married Kenneth Wayne Major. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2000.
Mary worked as a cashier for Bishop’s Buffet and Walgreens. She also held various other retail jobs. Mary enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include, one daughter, Jacqueline (William) Wollenburg of Des Moines; three sons, David Major of Davenport, Rick Major of Davenport and Dale (Marsha) Major of Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Kate Wollenburg, Tyler Major, Kyle Major and Alexa Major; three sisters, Becky, Bonnie and Marie and one brother, Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and three brothers, Keith, Lloyd and Edward.
