Mary Barton Mead of Silvis, Illinois passed away Monday, November 25, 2024. in her home after a brief illness. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4th at Riverview Free Will Baptist Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverview Free Will Baptist Church or to Samaritan’s Purse/ Operation Christmas Child, as she was the coordinator for her church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Mary was born June 19, 1937, in Los Angeles, California to Albert “Bill” Williams and Florence (Richardson) Williams. She married Charles R. Mead Jr. on March 19, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He passed away on May 22, 2006. She was employed as a secretary at GTE (General Telephone) in San Fernando, California where she met her husband, Chuck. She worked various jobs throughout her life, last being the Religious Supply Store up until her illness. Mary was always a go-getter and fiercely independent. She enjoyed golfing, line-dancing, reading, playing games on her phone, a Baskin Robbins Cappuccino Blast, British murder mysteries, dogs and crocheting. 

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Kelli (Chuck) Martin of Moline, Illinois; her two grandchildren, Daniel (Debby) Branaugh and Juno Martin; one great-granddaughter, Claire Branaugh; and her dear friends, Thomas and Tammy Hamerlinck.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and her brother, Bill Williams.
