Mary Orr, 109, of Bettendorf, formerly of Middletown, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Bettendorf Health Care Center.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.
Born on September 25, 1907 in Gorrin, Missouri, Mary was the daughter of William E. and Hattie Verlinda (Benge) Huntley. On August 1, 1934, she married Jack H. Orr. He preceded her in death in July 1975.
Mary worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Burlington, retiring in 1965. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and music. Mary attended Bettendorf Presbyterian Church. Mary moved to the Quad Cities in 1994 to be closer to her daughter. She loved spending time with her family, sharing a wealth of life experiences from her 109 years.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Linda Carrillo of Bettendorf; granddaughter, Shawn Carrillo-Jewel of Bettendorf; grandson-in-law, Darren Jewel; step-granddaughters, Dawn (Jerry) Downs and Kim (Joe) Pollock; nine step great-grandchildren and five step great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, her parents; two brothers; and her son-in-law, Joe Carrillo, preceded her in death.
