Mary A. Stauffer, 81, of Eldridge passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove. Memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Mary was born on December 15, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Agnes (Schad) McCloskey. On August 10, 1963 she married Charles “Bob” R. Stauffer at Corpus Christi Church in Dayton, Ohio. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church for over 40 years, where she served on the Guild committee. Mary was passionate about helping those in need and giving back to the community. She was recognized with the ‘Heart of Gold’ Award after organizing the inaugural Firefighter Appreciation Dinner for the North Scott area firemen. Above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Ann (James) Lenth of Welton, Iowa, Tom (Jill) Stauffer of Adel, Iowa; six grandchildren, Griffin, Gretchen, and Gillian Lenth, Ashton, Brady, and Jaxson Stauffer; sister, Patricia McCloskey of Kentucky; and brothers-in-law, Dennis (Patti) Stauffer of Miamisburg, Ohio, Jim (Linda) Stauffer of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Frances and Margaret, in infancy; and a sister-in-law.
