Mary Wilson

Mary A. Wilson, 87, of Davenport, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 with her family by her side.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at New Life Baptist Church on West Locust Street in Davenport. A luncheon will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the church or to the Humane Society of Scott County.

Mary was born August 30, 1927 in Davenport, the daughter of Everett and Amanda (Davis) Wilson. She was a professional wrestler in the 1950’s. She also worked at M.A. Ford as a tool grinder, at J.I. Case as a crane operator, Nichols Aluminum as an inspector and at Sears Manufacturing as a parts runner where she retired at the age of 62.

Mary loved spending time with her family and church family. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and being involved with Hearts and Hands. She loved animals, traveling, leatherwork, camping and fishing.

Those left to honor her memory include her nephew, Martin Townsend and his wife, Brenda; her niece, Rebecca Ryan and her sons, Zelig Kopel, Tyler Ryan and Brad Ryan; and special family friends, Iris and Gary Johnson, Kitty and Robert Salsberry and Kim Galle.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dean; her sisters Gwen, Vivian and Gloria Darlene; and her lifelong friend Marianne Clancy.
