Mary Ann Meier

Mary Ann Meier, 65, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Eldridge, Iowa died on Monday, November 09, 2009 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa following a brief illness.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of her daughter, Amanda Martin.
She was born June 6, 1944 in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd & Marjorie (Robinson) Soppe. On December 18, 1969, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Meier in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2001.
Mary Ann was a devoted homemaker, wife, mom & grandma. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards with her family & friends, took great pleasure in caring for her yard and when the work was done, she had fun visiting the casino boats. Above all, her beloved children & grandchildren were the most important thing in her life and she was always there for them. They will all sadly miss her, but her memory will remain alive in their hearts forever.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Lori (David) Vens of Eldridge, Annette (Dirk) Braet of Calamus, Iowa, Robert A. (Laura) Noel of Maquoketa, Iowa, Douglas (Vanesa) Meier of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Brian (Gayle) Meier of Eldridge, Michael (Brenda) Meier of Durant, Iowa, Amanda (Brad) Martin of Eldridge and Derek (Melisa) Meier of Davenport; twenty-two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Thomas (Leona) Soppe of Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Meier; her infant son, David Meier; her brother, John Soppe; and her parents.
