Mary C. Dahms, 88, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at her home following an extended illness.
Her funeral service will be held at 9:00 A.M. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf where a rosary will be recited at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or to Genesis Hospice.
She was born June 17, 1920 in Bettendorf, the daughter of Sefferino & Tavea (Gomez) Arguello. She married Leonard Dahms in Bettendorf and he preceded her in death in December of 1966.
Mary worked at the former Bishop’s Buffet in downtown Davenport, retiring after 20 years of faithful service.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Bettendorf Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary and ARC of Rock Island, Illinois.
During her spare time, she loved to cook & bake and loved going to McDonalds with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her sisters, Victoria Terronez of East Moline, Illinois, Savina Neverez of Riverside, California, Josephine Mendoza of Rock Island, Illinois, Tillie Miller of Bettendorf and Modesta Hayes of Bettendorf; and many loving nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, her sisters, Mary Ellen Simms and Stephina Gutierrez; her brother, Jesse Arguello; and her half-brothers, David Arguello, Michael Arguello and Frank Arguello, preceded her in death.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Genesis Hospice for their professional & compassionate care shown to Mary and her family.
