Mary E. Scott, 75, of Davenport died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 17, 2009 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary was born May 3, 1934 in Pennington Gap, Virginia, the daughter of Paskel & Mary (Fletcher) Haynes. She was united in marriage to Glenn S. Scott, Jr. on August 31, 1958 in Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1987.
Mary had served in the United States Air Force for a number of years. Primarily a homemaker, she had worked for many years at Walgreen’s at Locust and Division Streets in Davenport. She enjoyed watching NASCAR races and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Linda Maca and her fiancé Shawn Olson of Davenport and Mary (Donald) Wenzel of Bettendorf; her grandchildren Chris (Jenny) Wenzel, Jason (Natalie) Wenzel, Justin Maca, Joseph Scott, Vanessa (Nick) Scott, Joshua Scott and Amanda Scott; her great-grandchildren Jacob and Gretchen Wenzel, Victoria, Alina and Aryana Maca, and Francisco Scott; her sisters Shelby Haynes, Eleanor Haynes, Charlene (Bill) Statzer and Linda (Jackie) Houndshell of Virginia, Lois (Louie) Stapleton of Michigan; her brothers Kenneth Haynes of Colorado and Lowell Haynes of Virginia; and a special family friend, Theresa, who provided much support for Mary during this time.
In addition to her husband, Glenn, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary, her brother Robert and her grandson, Isaiah.
