Mary Lou Archer, 89, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. –11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jane’s Place in Davenport.
Born October 18, 1925 in Trenton, Missouri, Mary Lou was the daughter of Samuel B. and Beulah (McCoy) Mapel. She married Victor Wilson Archer on June 20, 1943 in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Mary Lou was a cook for Pleasant Valley High School from 1963 until 1991, and also worked part-time at Big Boy Restaurant. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her co-workers and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Sammy Archer and Cindy Archer both of Bettendorf; her son, Benny (Doris) Archer of Wenona, Illinois; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren
In addition to her husband, Victor, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Mike and Timmy; a brother, Gordon; and a sister, Evelyn.
Mary Lou’s family wishes to express special thanks to the Jane’s Place caregivers, to the many friends she made there and to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 5 th floor Pulmonary Unit at Genesis West.
