Mary Lou Jones, 76, of Princeton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department, Medic EMS or to St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Bettendorf.
Mary Lou was born November 14, 1939 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bill & Louisa (Bender) McDougal. She graduated from Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin and was united in marriage to Donald E. Jones on March 9, 1963 in Rock Island, Illinois.
Mary retired from Schwenke Pharmacy in LeClaire, Iowa after 37 years. She enjoyed shopping, sewing, reading, going out to eat and the company of her pugs and her cats, Daisy and Sweetie-Pie. She had also enjoyed figure skating in earlier years. She was a member of the LeClaire Civic Club, Bunco, the Bridgeview PTA, and the Buffalo Bill Museum. She also was a past Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. Most especially, she loved the time spent with her family and Christmas was her favorite holiday.
Those left to honor Mary Lou’s memory include her husband, Donald; her daughters, Lynn Jones (Jeff Brimeyer) of LeClaire and Lori Jones-Shaffnit of Bettendorf; her son, Donnie (Sharla) Jones of LeClaire; her grandchildren, Angie, Kayla, Jeremiah, Jacob, Abbey and Jared and two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Karen (Allan) Bruhn of Davenport; and a special family friend, Pat Fisher of LeClaire.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents.
