Mary Lou Reynolds, 62, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Catfish Jazz Society or to the family. A memorial service to celebrate Mary Lou’s life will be held at a later date.
Mary Lou was born May 26, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of William Irvin & Phyllis Marion (Furry) Graham. On April 3, 1982, she was united in marriage to Tim L. Reynolds in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2002.
A life-long resident of the area, Mary Lou was a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School. She then attended York College in York, Nebraska where she majored in Costume Design. She was a hairdresser for 41 years and had owned & operated various salons in the Quad-City area. Most recently, she was a hairdresser with Margaret’s Salon in Bettendorf and McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home.
Mary Lou’s interests were varied and she spent a lot of time out and about in the community. She was a member of the Bix Biederbeck Memorial Jazz Society, the Bix Catfish Society and the Red Hat Society. In addition, she was a member of the Central Church of Christ of Davenport and the Business & Professional Women’s Foundation.
For many years, she and her husband, Tim, would dress up as Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus and they would entertain their friends and families during the holiday season.
Those left to honor her memory include her brothers, Bob (Carol) Halsey in Florida, Bill (Pennie) Graham, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tom (Joyce) Graham, of Tacoma, Washington; her sisters-in-law, Gloria Halsey, of Sandwich, Illinois and Myra Halsey, of Riverdale, Iowa; her cousin, Dave Graham; her uncle, Jim Graham; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and many wonderful friends.
In addition to her husband, Tim, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers Jack Halsey & Bert Halsey.
