Matthew Voss

Matthew G. Voss, 42, died on Friday, February 24, 2017 after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Matt, a resident of LeClaire Iowa, was born on April 24, 1974. He is the son of Robert and Lindy Voss. Matt was a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School in 1992.
Matt married Stephanie Scott on June 11, 2010. Together they have two beautiful children, Hadley, five years old and Hunter, three years old.
Matt was a “Man’s Man”, enjoying fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, riding his Harley and collecting and restoring antique tractors and Oliver memorabilia. Matt loved tractor pulls and participated in pulls both locally and afar where he often placed. Matt worked hard, played hard, and loved deeply. Tuesday night, “Voss Night” was always a highlight for family, friends and neighbors. Everyone ate, drank, played cards, rolled dice and enjoyed each other’s company. “Voss Night” was an old tradition started by his “Grandpa Bud” that Matt was committed to continue and enjoyed every second.
Matt was a hard worker proud to be a patternmaker like his Dad, he worked at Midfield Pattern in Walcott, Iowa
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf with visitation on Monday from 4:00- 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Jack’s Cemetery, in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to Matt’s family to benefit his children’s educations.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, children and parents, brothers Luke Voss, of Maquoketa, IA and Nick (Allie) Voss of LeClaire, grandfather Charlie Davis, mother-in-law, Cynthia Scott of Rock Island, sister-in-law Sonia Meraz, nephew Huxley Voss and nieces, Rylan Voss, Erica Hebelin, Marissa Meraz and Alexa Meraz; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Matt was preceded in death by a brother, Jestin, grandparents Lawrence and Margaret Voss, George Dunscombe and Betty Davis and father-in-law Jerry Scott.
Matt’s family would like to thank Dr. John Patton and his nurse Theresa at Genesis Health Group and the nurses and staff at Genesis Hospice for all their care and comfort they provided for Matt and his family during this time.
