Our son, Matthew Scott Haessler fell into the loving hands of God on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Matthew who was born on September 10, 1977 is the son of LeRoy Haessler of Davenport, Iowa and the late Kay Kaessler.
Matt graduated from Pleasant Valley High School and was a gifted musician, loving all music, especially the blues. He was with several groups including the “Whatever” blues band and “Tear-Drop Red.”
He was currently employed at Pleasant Valley Auto Sales where he loved working with his dad, Greg, Jeff and John.
Matthew is survived by his precious son, Christian; his father, LeRoy Haessler; his second mother, Wanda Evins Haessler of Davenport; his big brother, John (Heidi) Haessler, nephew & niece, Jordyn & Abby Haessler, all of Bettendorf, Iowa; his step-sisters & step-brother, Raquel (Kurt) Hartz of Parkview, Iowa, Carrie Evins of Long Grove, Iowa and Bret Evins of Rock Island, Illinois; his grandparents, Kate Haessler of LeClaire and the late Fred Haessler and Anna Fields of Chicago, Illinois and the late Mac Fields; his aunts & uncles, Ed & Barb Haessler of LeClaire, Dick & Loretta Hartz of LeClaire, Bob Haessler of LeClaire, Duayne & Anna Haessler of LeClaire and Karen & Bill Welter of Central City, Iowa; his aunts & uncles from the Chicago area, Glen & Donna, Marlene & Lou, Jeff & Mary, Sue, Rick, Connie, Mac Jr., Mike, Larry, Joanne & Karen; his step-nieces and nephews, Lil’ Bret, Jacob, Matthew & Kaylee.
Matt loved his many cousins, his many good friends, his cat, “Bo,” and a very special Lori Nordstrom.
A sincere thank you goes to Chris Butler of North Carolina who was Matthew’s childhood & favorite babysitter.
Matthew’s funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 21, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Following the service, all are invited to a gathering at the Comfort Inn, 902 Mississippi View Ct. in LeClaire to celebrate Matt’s life and his music.
Matthew is so missed. We miss his big smile and his big caring heart, but we know he has found peace and his pain is passed. And now Matthew Scott Haessler is once again in the loving arms of his mother in heaven.
