Maurice F. Hacker, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday March 10, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf where he was a devoted member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. today at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf where a prayer service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or to Sacred Heart Missions.
Maurice was born December 18, 1922 in Templeton, Iowa, the son of Wendell & Helen (Berg) Hacker. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Glass on October 14, 1945 in Melbourne, Florida.
He was employed as a machinist at the J. I. Case Company in Bettendorf, retiring in 1983 after 25 years of faithful service.
During World War II, he served for four years in the U.S. Navy in England as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class.
In addition to the church, he was a member of the National Council of Senior Citizens and the Davenport Moose Lodge #28. He also served as chairman of Local 858 U.A.W. Retirees.
For many years, Maurice & his wife traveled extensively and spent many enjoyable times in Hawaii. He also enjoyed regular visits to the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor his memory include, his wife, Mary; his daughter, Patricia A. Hacker of Bettendorf; his sisters, Helen Lee David and Virginia Janning both of Lake View, Iowa; his brother & sister-in-law, Clifford & Annamae Hacker of Carroll, Iowa; his brother-in-law, Robert McDonald of Lake View, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Ruthie Hacker in Texas and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Harriet McDonald and his brother, Edward Hacker.
