Maxine L. Scharff, 90, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Private family services are to be held. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Maxine was born September 3, 1917 in LeClaire, the daughter of Lee G. and Lorraine T. (Simpson) Suiter. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Scharff in LeClaire on April 14, 1934. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1985.
Maxine owned and operated beauty shops in Port Byron and LeClaire. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed boating.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Hanna of Cordova, Illinois; her son, Wayne Scharff of LeClaire; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nancy J. Scharff; her sisters, Vala June Suiter and Shirley Randolph; her brothers, Lee Suiter Jr. and Laurel Suiter; her granddaughter Denise Johnson Norton and her grandson Douglas Johnson.
