May L. Darrah, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 12, 2008 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 2400 Middle Rd., Bettendorf where she was a member. Private family graveside services were held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church or the American Lung Association. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born May 21, 1923 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of James & Hilma (Malgrem) McCreanor. On September 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Irwin A. Darrah in Springfield.
May was employed in retail sales, retiring from Blackhawk Films in 1979.
She was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother and enjoyed cooking & baking for her family & friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Irwin; her daughter, Susan (David) Wantz; her son, Mark (Lyn) Darrah; and her grandchildren, James, Gregory & Michael.
Her parents, her brothers, James, Gordon & John and her sister, Esther preceded her in death.
