Melba Ellen Martin, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf with Rev. Craig Anglin officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation for Melba will be from 12 Noon on Sunday until time of services. Memorials in memory of Melba may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Melba was born on November 6, 1931, the daughter of Nelson and Ruby (Chase) Moore. She was united in marriage to Herman “Louie” Martin in Davenport in 1956. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1979.
Melba operated an in-home day care. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Davenport where she was very active. Melba belonged to the Moose Lodge and enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sheri Hoskins and her husband J.J. of Troy, MO; her son, Loren Martin of Davenport; and two grandchildren, Elliott and Josephine Hoskins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Naomi Martin.
