Merle Kolls

Merle E. Kolls, 66, of Bettendorf, died on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 10:00 AM at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be 4-7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Merle Kolls was born on December 19, 1936 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Gilbert & Ruth Kolls. He served in the Army from 1960-65. Merle was a forklift driver at International Harvester Navistar, retiring in 1996 after 30 years. He was united in marriage to Linda Bolinger on November 19, 1983 in Maysville, Iowa. Merle was on bowling leagues in Rock Island and Moline and he also coached Little League for a number of years. More recently, he was seen rollerblading with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 20 years, Linda; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd & Sharon Kolls, Colona, IL; his sons, Cris Kolls, Phoenix, AZ, and Ronnie Parris, Chicago, IL; his daughter, Rhonda Byrd, Laurinburg, NC; and his grandchildren, Kelly, Patrick, Ashley, and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bonnie, and his brother, Ronald.
