Michael D. Dowell, 63, of Davenport, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Manor Care in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday June 24, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial with military honors will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa Disabled Veterans or any other Veteran’s Organization.
Michael was born September 28, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Leslie & Marian (Luetger) Dowell. He was a 1967 graduate of Davenport West High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Nielsen in Davenport in 1970.
Michael was a retired Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR races.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Beverly; his sons, Matthew Dowell of Davenport, Mark Dowell of Mount Carmel, Illinois and Christopher Dowell of Davenport; eight grandchildren; his mother, Marian Dowell of Davenport; his sisters, Sandra K. Kitchen of Davenport, Sharon K. Simons of Pendleton, Oregon and Lois A. Corbet of La Pine, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his daughter, Heather Brianne Dowell.
