Michael Gesling

Michael R. Gesling, 54, of Eldridge passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Eldridge.  Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 at Ainsworth Cemetery.  There will be a visitation prior to the burial from 10:00 a.m. – Noon at the Ainsworth Community Church.  Memorials may be directed the family.  Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael was born on June 8, 1968 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Robert and Barbara (Mitchell) Gesling.  He married Alice Stoner in 1987, but later divorced.  Michael worked as an auto mechanic at Green GMC prior to his failing health.  He enjoyed demolition derby, sport complex (4 cylinder) racing, and watching North Scott football and girls and boys basketball.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Donna Jevyak of Eldridge; children, Andria (Matt) York of Washington, Iowa, Michael Gesling of Ainsworth, Jason Gesling of Eldridge, Jeremy Gesling of Waterloo, Iowa, Josh Gesling of Waterloo, Michael Jevyak of Davenport, Kristen Jevyak of Eldridge, Joseph Jevyak of Eldridge, Kelsey Gesling of Eldridge; siblings, Debra (Chris) Unternahrer of Wayland, Iowa, Brenda (Keith) Lyon of Brighton, Iowa, Jeff Gesling of Washington, Robin (Brian) Arnold of Brighton; 10 grandchildren and guardianship of one granddaughter, Kylan Gesling; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his grandparents and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas Gesling, who passed away the same day (October 16) in 2002.
