Michael Humes

Michael Wade Humes, 43, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020.  He was born November 16, 1976, in Decatur, IL, the only child of Dennis W. and Mary Jane (Ellison) Humes.  He was a graduate of Eisenhower High School in Decatur and followed in his father’s footsteps as he attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, IN. He graduated in 1999 with a degree in chemical engineering and worked at ADM in Clinton, IA, since graduation.

He married Katherine Brinkmann on October 20, 2001, in Clinton IA.  They are the parents of two children, John Wesley (8) and Julianna Grace (5).

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents.  In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents Dennis and Mary Jane Humes of Decatur, IL, his parents-in-law Wayne and Suzanne Brinkmann of Morton, IL, his aunts and uncles, Sally and Thomas Morris of Wyandotte, MI, Dee Anne Ellison of Garland, TX, Dennis Ellison of Leander, TX, Martha Bozik of Mesa, AZ, and Richard Miller of Mesa, AZ; his cousins Jim Knifong of Garland, TX, Matt Knifong of St. Charles, IL, Colleen Ellison of Austin, TX, and William Morris of Wyandotte, MI; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and his best friends Ben Hale and Jeff Roney.

A service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf on July 16, 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Keith Piotter officiating.
