Michael R. Marolf, 64, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Iowa City, Iowa
Michael was born July 20, 1950 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Francis & Mary (O’Farrell) Marolf. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Sheila A. Gill on August 29, 1987 in Bettendorf.
Mike had been retired for several years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9128 in Bettendorf. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he also enjoyed bowling, golf and hunting. Most of all, Mike enjoyed the time spent with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sheila; two children; two step-children; seven grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; his father, Francis Marolf of Moline; his sister, Harveta Ryan of Silvis, Illinois; his brother, Steven Marolf of Moline; and his beagle companion, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
