Michael Jay Hall, 62, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Friday, June 13, 2008 at his home following an extended illness and surrounded by his beloved family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born in Quincy, Illinois on August 19, 1945, the son of Bill & Dottie Hall and was a 1963 graduate of Bettendorf High School. On June 20, 1964, he married the love of his life, Dayle L. Gillam in Princeton, Iowa.
Mike was the manager of the printing division of the Mid-West Publishing Company of Davenport retiring several years ago. In earlier years, he worked for many years with his dad in their family business-Omar Printing Company of LeClaire.
He was actively involved and a strong supporter of the Pleasant Valley Wrestling Program for many years and also coached Little League Baseball in LeClaire for 18 years. Mike was also a founding member of the LeClaire Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Mike loved caring for his yard and took great pride in constructing and enjoying the beautiful ponds he created at their home in Bettendorf and later at their home in LeClaire.
Above all else, his family was the most important part of his life. Whether it was attending an athletic event, helping with a carpentry project or a variety of other activities, Mike was always there to lend a hand. His family will miss him dearly, but will always be comforted by the joy he created in their lives.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dayle; his daughter, Carrie (Travis Corson) of LeClaire; his sons, Michael W. Hall and Matt Hall, both of LeClaire; his sisters, Sandy (Stan) Miller of LeClaire, Susie (Randy) Dague and Marcia (John) Heidgerken, all of Litchfield, Minnesota; and his brothers, Greg Hall of Oquawka, Illinois, Phil Hall of Bettendorf and Mark Hall of LeClaire.
His parents, Bill & Dottie preceded him in death.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring people of Genesis Hospice for their compassion and kind assistance during this difficult time.
