U.S. Army PFC Michael Patrick Pittman, 34, a former resident of Davenport, Iowa was killed in action on Friday, June 15, 2007 while serving with the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry, Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Ft. Riley, Kansas.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Full military honors will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Michael was born March 17, 1973 in Davenport, the son of Ron and Sandra (Shoemaker) Pittman. On October 14, 1994, he was united in marriage to Jennifer M. Frias in Orlando, Florida.
On August 25, 2005, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army and had served in Iraq since February.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jennifer; their children, Reannah, Micah, Christian & Joy; his mother & father, Sandra & Frank Hughes of Rock Island, Illinois; his sister, Becky & her husband, Jay Wilson of Bettendorf; and his brothers, Kirk Pittman of Iowa City, Iowa & his fiancé, Michelle and Mark Woodruff & his wife, Teresa of Geneseo, Illinois.
His biological father, Ron, preceded Michael in death.
