Michele Kable

July 25, 1949 — November 16, 2022

Michele L. Kable, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and formerly of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at UnityPoint Health in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.  Private committal services will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michele was born July 25, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Albert & Lucille (Reuter) Leiby.  She was a 1967 graduate of Bettendorf High School and a 1969 graduate of AIC College.  She was united in marriage to John E. Kable on May 1, 1970 in Coal Valley.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 2008.

Michele had worked with the Quad-City Times and the former Times-Democrat for 43 years in creative services. In earlier years, she had worked for Bishop’s Buffet and the El Rancho Motel.

Michele expressed her talents with ceramics and crafts and owned her own kiln.  She also enjoyed painting and collecting frogs.  Her painting was influenced by Bob Ross.  Michele enjoyed making crafts for the residents of Luther Knoll in Bettendorf.  She kindly remembered residents’ with birthday cards and Christmas cards.  Michele will also be remembered for her generosity towards the homeless.

Those left to honor her memory are her siblings, Sally Moore, Kathy (Allen) Holloway, Ron Leiby and Tim (Jenny) Leiby, all of Bettendorf; her sisters-in-law, Jody Leiby of Rock Island, Illinois and Pat Schild of Moline, Illinois; 25 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, John, Michele was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jack Leiby; her sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Linda Leiby; her brother-in-law, Bert Moore; her niece Jennifer Leiby; and her great niece, Noelle McGeehon.
