Mildred M. “Mima” Duda, 62, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf.
A Mass of Resurrection to celebrate her life will be held at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Bettendorf where she was a member. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or the Quad-City Animal Welfare Center (a no-kill shelter) of Milan, Illinois.
She was born on July 22, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of James F. & Mildred M. (Steele) Duda. Mima graduated from the Villa de Chatel of Rock Island, Illinois, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri and her Master of Arts degree from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa.
Mima taught for 38 years in the North Scott School District and retired in 2007 from Alan Shepherd Elementary School in Long Grove, Iowa where she had spent her entire teaching career. Mima had no children of her own, but had hundreds who passed through her classrooms over the years.
Those left to honor her memory include her brothers, Jim (Karen) Duda of Austin, Texas, Doug (Ginny) Duda of Davenport, John Duda of Bettendorf and Joe (Cathy) Duda of Bettendorf; her nephews, Jason, Justin & Cliff Duda; her nieces, Kimery & Carrie Duda; and several cousins, aunts and wonderful friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
