Mildred H. Lantz, 96, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Sherrard Cemetery in Sherrard, Illinois. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Born on June 10, 1921 in Sherrard, Mildred was the daughter of Ed and Eleanor Thuren. Throughout her life, she was united in marriage to Loy Hunsucker, Merle Lange, Cecil Walters and Richard Lantz. They have preceded her in death.
During the years of World War II, Mildred worked in different factories, supporting the war effort. She also worked in a prisoner of war farm for Germans. Later in life, Mildred worked for Eagle Signal for 20 years as a machine operator. She enjoyed conversation, flowers, camping and fishing. She cherished her time spent with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Dan (Diane) Hunsucker of Davenport and Tom (Sue) Lange of Bettendorf; step-children, Mary Lou (Bernie) McCance of Coal Valley and Bob Walters of Bettendorf; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tom.
