Mildred L. Mangles Meinburg Otis, 90, of Davenport, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her residence.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Davenport where she was a member. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or to Genesis Hospice.

Mildred was born March 3, 1920 in Davenport, the daughter of Richard & Jenny (Roller) Mangels. She played violin in the Scott County 4-H orchestra. In 1938 she married Frederick H. Meinburg at the “Little Brown Church in the Vale”, Nashua, Iowa. They lived on a dairy farm in west Davenport, sold milk, cream and eggs and dressed chickens and ducks.

She was a 4-H leader of the Rockingham Merry Maids, PTA Fairview School and the Scott County Farm Bureau.

Mildred had worked for the Easton Phalen Corporation, Sieg Auto Parts and in 1959, went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co.

She married Paul R. Otis in 1961 and moved to Arizona in 1970. She retired from Sears in 1984 with 25 years of service. Mildred belonged to the American Business Women’s Association, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Esther Circle. Mr. Otis died in 1986.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Joyce Larson, of North Carolina, Milly (Fred) Heskett, of Davenport; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her step-children, Betty & Dale Jolivette, Marie and Paul Baker, James and Teresa Otis and Patricia Otis; seven step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Frederick and Paul, Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter Royanna Powell; her son, Frederick Meinburg; her granddaughter, Heather Dreslin; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Paige; and her great-great grandson, Jacob Bingham.
