Monte Mclaughlin

Monte A. McLaughin, 77, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services to honor his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born in Seattle, Washington on November 9, 1938. Monte served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963. On September 7, 1991, he was united in marriage to Jeri L. Mitchell in Escondido, California..

He was employed as a Financial Systems Analyst for General Atomics in San Diego, California, retiring after 30 years of service.

Monte was a computer buff and was an avid and active member of the Good News Center in Davenport.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jeri; his daughters, Katie (Daniel) Newbanks of San Marcos, California, Kelly McLaughlin of Santee, California, Sandra (Randy) Heath of San Jaciento, California and Abbra Shumway of Bettendorf; his sons, Christopher (Stephanie) McLaughlin of San Marcos, California, Timothy McLaughlin of Fallbrook, California, Stephen (Lynn) Kainec of Bettendorf and Dorian (Julie) Kainec of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Michelle Smith of El Paso, Texas and Loann Hogan of Ashland, Oregon.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Laurie; and his son-in-law, Darrell Shumway.
