M. Paula Sharoian

M. Paula Sharoian, 67, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, May 20, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Budd Lake, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf where a Christian wake service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 27, 2005 at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club.
Mary Paula was born December 2, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of John Paul & Mary Veronica (Mahler) Kohler. She was united in marriage to John Sharoian on August 24, 1957 in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2000.
She had operated the Buckhorn Tavern in Bettendorf along with her husband for several years. She had been more recently employed as a substance abuse counselor for the Community for Alcohol and Drug Services in Davenport. She was also a member of the Pilot Club in Bettendorf and Gilda’s Club of Davenport. Among her interests were reading, sewing, and cooking.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Alice & Peter Giacalone, Budd Lake, New Jersey; her sons, George M. Sharoian and John Sharoian, both of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sisters, Kate Mann and her husband, Charles, Arab, Alabama, Marcia Wheeler, Davenport, Dot Kohler, Wellman, Iowa, and Connie Zwack-Kohler and her husband, John, Birmingham, Alabama; her brothers, John Kohler and his wife, Thuda, Ruskin, Florida and Joe Kohler and his wife, Luda, Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
