Nancy Lou (Smith) Dorton, 82, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died on September 28, 2016 at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, after a brief illness.
No visitations will be held; her body will be cremated. A private service for family will be held at the Blue Grass Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport or to Genesis Hospice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy was born April 19,1934 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Miles Sr. and Marie (Behrens) Smith. She graduated from Central High School in 1952. Nancy worked for many years in the Scott County Attorney’s office.
She married Fred W. Dorton on October 9, 1954 celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014.
She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. Nancy enjoyed all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved fishing, reading, and bowling in her earlier years. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister.
Survivors include her husband Fred, children: Debra D. (Rick) Ralfs of Walcott, Pamela S. (Randy) Templeton of Blue Grass, Diane D. (Jon) Robken of Davenport, Kathy L. (Steve) Watt of Davenport and Donald R. (Liz) Dorton of Davenport; brother, Miles E. (Delores) Smith; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren; nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Miles Sr. and Marie Smith and a sister, Joyce A (Smith) McCollam.
