Nancy Ferkel

Nancy Jane Ferkel, 80, a resident of Blue Grass, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at her home.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3834 Rockingham Rd. in Davenport, Iowa where she was a longtime and faithful member. She will be laid to rest in Blue Grass Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Davenport.
She was born on July 21, 1936 in Levey, Iowa, the daughter of Charles & Irene Ann (Bohlmeyer) Love. On December 10, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Ferkel at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.
Nancy entered the work force at age 16 and continued working until her marriage. She then was a devoted wife, mom & homemaker who truly made her house into a home. She returned to work in 1962 at the Brammer Manufacturing Company of Davenport, retiring in 1997 after 35 years of faithful service.
She took great pride in her home and yard. Her yard was always decorated according to the season and she loved the colorful display of her flowers. Nancy’s “door” was always open and she welcomed visiting with her many friends anytime they stopped by. She also enjoyed doing crafts and treasured the times spent with her beloved grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald; her two sons, Randy Lee (Riki)Ferkel of Montpelier, Iowa and Terry Lee (Cindy) Ferkel of Blue Grass; her grandchildren, Josh Lee (Renea) Ferkel of Buffalo, Iowa, Jake Lee (Sarah) Ferkel of Montpelier, Ryan Lee Ferkel of Montpelier, Cory Lee Ferkel of Omaha, Nebraska, Samantha Ott of Buffalo, Erika Ott of Buffalo and Jacob Ott of Montpelier; and her great-grandchildren, Colt Lee Ferkel, Marie Lynn Ferkel. Layla Maria Ferkel, Cheriah Stacy Ferkel and Rylee Earl Ferkel.
