Nancy Lynn Evans (TouVelle), of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. In her final days, she was surrounded by her family and the kind and caring staff of Banner Medical.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will take place at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Footbridge Inc. of Bettendorf.
Nancy was the second child of Allwyn and Violet (Gudmondson) TouVelle, born June 24, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Donald Evans at her family church (St. James Lutheran) in Bettendorf on October 14, 1972.
Nancy graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1971 and later received her degree in Early Childhood Development. She put her degree and her life-long passion for children to use by caring for her family and establishing a 30-year career working in daycare, and teaching preschool and dance at the Bettendorf Family Museum.
Nancy was an avid fan and supporter of Bettendorf athletics for more than 5 decades. She attended and cheered at hundreds of Bettendorf Wrestling matches and founded the Bettendorf Mat Moms in 2004, Additionally, Nancy and Don were awarded Bettendorf Football’s Most Loyal Fans in 2009.
Nancy leaves a legacy of love, in her husband of 47 years to the day, Don Evans of Bettendorf; her children, Justin Evans (Katie) of Maricopa, Arizona, Jason Evans of Bettendorf and Jared Evans (Elissa) of Rochester, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Kain Evans (Tatiana), Aiden Evans, Alyssa Evans, Tenley Evans, Garrett Evans and Oliver Evans; her great-grandchildren, Carter Evans and Amelia Evans; her siblings: Steve TouVelle (Terese), Todd TouVelle and Matt TouVelle (Alison); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1981; and her mother in 2010.
