Nancy Wilson

Nancy M. Wilson, 80, of Bettendorf passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to the American Diabetes Association.

Nancy was born on May 13, 1942 in Taylor Ridge, Illinois, the daughter of Myron and Mildred (Nienabor) Schroeder.  She graduated from Davenport High School in 1961 and continued her education at the University of Iowa where she earned her degree in surgical technology.  On February 14, 1969, she married Thomas A. Wilson in Waterville, Maine.  Nancy worked as a surgical technician for Trinity-Unity Point Hospital (formerly Lutheran Hospital) until her retirement in 2004.  For the past 12 years, she enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at Trinity-Unity Point Hospital.  Nancy enjoyed attending her class reunions, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and also playing cards.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Tom Wilson of Bettendorf; children, Curt (Gloria) Wilson of Bettendorf, Tegan (Reba) Wilson of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Andrew Wilson of Bettendorf, and Jeremy Wilson of Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Abram, Hannah, Tristan, and Leland; three siblings, Patty Umland of Moline, Illinois, Melvin Schroeder of Silvis, Illinois, and Carolyn (Roger) Grunder of Wilton, Iowa; special friend, Nancy Stock of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son at birth, Gregory; a grandson, Ben; and siblings, Darlene Schroeder, Ronnie Schroeder, and Sandra Watkins.
