Nancy L. Campbell, 73, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of LeClaire, Iowa died on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at her home following a long & courageous battle with cancer.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf where she was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf where an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
She was born June 30, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer H. & Wilma Caroline (Denk) Rock. She attended West Linn Grove School in Maysville, Iowa, Sudlow Secondary School in Davenport and graduated from Davenport High School. On February 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to Glenn J. Campbell in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2000.
Nancy was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of Vollertsen & Britt, P.C. in Davenport, retiring on June 30, 1995 after 45 years of faithful service.
In addition to the church, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 178 of Davenport, the Kaaba Temple Widows, a Life-Member of the Bettendorf Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary #9128 and the Quad-City Plus-60 Club.
Nancy was a dedicated & loyal volunteer for many years and devoted countless hours to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Mississippi Valley Blood Center where she was also a regular donor, the Iowa Masonic Healthcare Facility in Bettendorf, the annual Father’s Day Ride the River, the John Deere Golf Classic and drove the golf cart for the annual Senior Golf Cart Tour in the Quad-Cities. She also participated in virtually all of the activities of the Iowa Masonic Village in Bettendorf and was the 2004 recipient of the Iowa Masonic Health Facility Volunteer of the Year Award. Wherever and whenever help was needed, Nancy always said yes.
Those left to honor her memory include her sisters, Donna Jean Huckfeldt of Davenport, Maxine Joyce (Ken) Duhm of Moline, Illinois and Vicky Marie Blake of Mountain View, California; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Kay Campbell; her brothers, LaMoyne Elmer Rock and Loren Guy Rock; and by her parents.
