Ned O. Mohr, 89, of rural Eldridge, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa. Private family funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Vera French Foundation.
Ned was born on October 22, 1922 in Davenport, the son of Robert and Hilda (Meyer) Mohr. On September 20, 1952 in Park Ridge, IL, he married D. Norida Frank. She preceded him in death on December 10, 2009.
Ned proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport. Ned farmed in rural Eldridge along with his brothers, Erwin and James. Community folk of longstanding will remember Ned driving a farm Jeep with a faithful hound riding close by, everywhere.
Ned served for multiple terms on the North Scott School Board, as a director for the Central Scott Telephone Company, Pork Producers, as well as other civic groups.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Beth and sons, Robert and William.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norida; sister, Roberta McHenry; brothers, Erwin and James.
