Nelson L. "Uncle Bud" Malmgren

Nelson L. “Uncle Bud” Malmgren, 70, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born December 10, 1934 in Canton, Illinois, the son of George & Velma (Rose) Malmgren. He was united in marriage to Sandra J. (Dvorak) Green in Davenport.
Nelson was employed at Scott Ford Heat Treat in Rock Island, Illinois, retiring in the early 1980’s.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was honorably discharged as an Airman 2nd Class in 1957. He was a former member of the Davenport American Legion and the Davenport Moose Lodge.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandy; his son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Janet Green of Davenport; his grandchildren, Courtney Lee Green and Jacob Nelson Green; his sisters & brother-in-law, Janis Malmgren of Dallas, Texas and Kathleen & Joe Sunders of St. Francisville, Louisiana; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Ray & Millie Cady of Davenport, Omer Cady of Keokuk, Iowa, Rodney & Lori Cady of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, John & Bobbie Malmgren of Peoria, Illinois, Steve & Dory Malmgren of Banner, Illinois, Bill & Nancy Malmgren of Smithfield, Illinois and Al Brush of Canton, Illinois; and a close & special friend, Bertha Nicol of Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Verona; and his brothers, Roger, John and Clyde “Jack”.
